Checking Things Off The List
I have been busily working on various projects. Some have been sitting unfinished for quite some time and others were in the queue. Here are a few things I've been working on lately:
I have long wanted to make this bunny from a pattern I bought by Barbara Prime (Fuzzy Mitten) but was too intimidated to try it until recently. Perfect timing for spring!
Here's another photo:
Another project picked up from my queue was a pair of removable throw pillowcases. I found a very nice tutorial some time ago at Cottage Magpie. Again, I had to overcome some fears about inexperience (I bought the fabric for the pillows about 2 years ago!) and gave it a whirl. Everything went well except for inserting the braided cording around the outer edge of the pillow. Eventually, I realized that the zipper foot was not going to work for me and I serendipitously came across a blog where this problem was discussed and the blog owner mentioned using cording or welting feet. I ordered both and it was smooth sailing after that!
As for long lingering UFOs, I finally finished my vest that I began in the summer! Many thanks to Cynthia for all of her help!
Back to School U-Neck Vest from Fitted Knits
Yarn: Queensland Kathmandu Aran, 4.5 balls
Size 10 Needles
I also knit some fast pop-top mitten/gloves. My class began in mid-January and I was finished by the end of the month.
Pop-up Paws by Mary Dockman
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca
Size 4 & 6 dpns
My last couple of finished projects are amigurumi, of course. I saw a cute free pattern for a mushroom with a top that opens and worked on it last month. Sadly, it's a little deflated.
Lucas also spied a cute mouse on the cover of one of my Japanese amigurumi books and requested one of his own. I couldn't turn him down! Here is his mousie:
And, if you combine the mouse and mushroom: problem solved.
Looks a bit like he is riding in a space ship, no?
Plenty more projects are in the works. Hopefully I'll have more to share soon!
