Tiny Knit Christmas Stockings

These guys deserve a post of their own because they are that awesome.

Tiny Christmas Stockings!

I've wanted to knit these tiny Christmas stockings by Little Cotton Rabbits for the last two years but I was too intimidated and I only learned stranded knitting about a year ago.

Yarn: Harrisville New England Shetland
Needles: 3mm dpns

I followed the pattern to knit these flat but wasn't entirely happy with how my stranded knitting was turning out. I decided to learn to purl continental and that improved their appearance to some degree but the stitches near the edge still weren't uniform. I decided to look for some instructions on knitting these in the round and found some modifications by gooseknits on Ravelry that were very helpful. I think I prefer the look of them in the round.

My only change to her modifications was to knit 25 stitches instead of 24 (eliminating the left and right columns) then decreasing by two after the chart is completed.

You need to knit these! Watch out because they are addictive.

Thank you! Stranded knitting is a lot of fun. I think you'll enjoy it when you have an opportunity to learn it.
