February Project for Pattern Pact 2011
modernjax is hosting Pattern Pact 2011 and has created a flickr group where you can post the pattern that has been hanging around in your stash that you would finally like to work on for a given month. It starts now and goes through October. I thought this would be a good way to encourage myself to work on smaller patterns that I've been meaning to try for a long time.
For February, I'll be knitting the French Press Felted Slippers in Cascade 220. I've been wanting to make these for well over a year and I am glad I to finally do it!
I have only tried felting sweaters to use for sewing projects, so it should be interesting to try to felt something that I want to get to a certain size (my feet). If all goes well, I think some other people might be getting these for Christmas.
I am also wondering how I will handle the soles of the shoes. The pattern instructions suggest using puffy paint to add grips to the bottoms but I would like to try actually sewing a leather sole to the bottom of the slippers. I think my LYS has some slipper soles, so I will have to look at them and see if I can figure it out.
Do you have any special projects planned for February?

Michael, I hadn't thought of that! I'll try not to make it a punishing experience for myself. ;)
