Springtime Bandit Shawl in Autumn Colors
I am entering my Springtime Bandit Shawl in the Stitched In Color Celebrate Color Contest for September. Fall colors are the focus and the yarn in this shawl is the perfect mix of fall colors in my mind.
It's always helpful to read the directions carefully or you might not notice that you need to repeat a section a few times before moving on to the next chart. Ask me how I know. :) Despite that minor setback, I knit this up pretty quickly!
I tried knitting the Springtime Bandit Shawl once before in Louet Gems sport weight yarn a couple of years ago. It didn't go well. I kept messing up the stitch count and ripping back. Finally, I frogged it. But I still really wanted a Springtime Bandit. I just knew I had to knit it in worsted weight yarn next time.
Enter Interlacements Shepherd's Worsted yarn (sadly, this yarn isn't being made any longer). It's a lovely hand-dyed merino with a nice spring to it. The moment I saw it at Stitch Your Art Out, I knew I needed to come up with a project for it and it wasn't long before I settled on the Springtime Bandit. A while later, I worried that the yarn's color changes might not work well with the lace pattern. Joan suggested I swatch it and swatching with the yarn turned into casting on and knitting the shawl.
